Globalization and International Affairs

The Globalization and International Affairs major at Eastern Kentucky University is a unique interdisciplinary major that focuses on the nature of globalization and its effects on individuals, communities, regions, and nations. The main objective of this major is to provide an awareness of the global environment and broaden the international perspective of students.

The Globalization and International Affairs program enables students to analyze cultural, economic, geographical, historical, political, and social forces that influence globalization. Students learn to identify factors which impede or encourage globalization, and to evaluate the impacts of increasing global interdependence at the local, national, and international levels. One of the distinguishing features of the program is the senior seminar which brings together several disciplines, and culminates in a research paper and presentation. This capstone experience helps to integrate globalization ideas and concepts from the various related disciplines into a unified whole.

A degree in Globalization and International Affairs helps students acquire a strong inter-disciplinary background that is valued by private and public organizations, both domestic and international. The degree is also excellent preparation for graduate study in public and international affairs.
