Thacker Memorial Scholarship Awarded at Annual Econ Tailgate

Economics professors, students, alumni, and friends gathered in Alumni Coliseum parking lot on Saturday, October 20, for the eleventh annual Economics tailgate. This year, they gathered to celebrate not just EKU Homecoming, but also a very special scholarship presentation. 

The Kyle J. Thacker Memorial Scholarship rewards outstanding junior and senior economics majors at EKU and honors the memory of Kyle, a 2012 economics graduate from Somerset who was killed in an accident in February 2013. The scholarship was established in 2013 and has been presented to recipients at the tailgate since 2014.

The four students awarded this year include: 

William C. Davis: BA Economics, BBA Marketing, minor in Statistics, Honors programs
Matthew A. Lee: BA Economics, BS Statistics, minors in Business, Mathematics, Actual Science, Honors program
Laura S. Sallee: BA Economics
James Scott Winter: BA Economics, University Certificate Geographic Information Systems 

Dr. Tom Erekson with Scholarship RecipientsFunding for the Kyle J. Thacker Memorial Scholarship comes by donation from the Thacker family and friends. Anyone interested in donating to the Thacker Scholarship fund should contact either the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems 859-622-1087, or the University’s Development Office at 859-622-1583. Donations can be made online by visiting development.eku.edu/giving and designating the gift to the Kyle J.
